Building a Report: for Brightflag Customers (Clients)

The Brightflag Report Builder allows you to create custom reports to suit your needs. This can be used to generate specific insights or high-level summaries.

All Brightflag users in your company will have access to the report builder, however, the data you see will vary depending on your access level and the matters and invoices that you are assigned to.


To build a report:

  1.   2. Select an option from the Choose Report Type dropdown. The report type determines what fields are available for the report.

  3. Select a date range for the report. The report builder filters dates based on Invoice Date.

  4. You can also choose a Currency. If you do not select a currency, your company's default currency will be chosen. 
    • In the Invoices Report, choose Native as your currency to view the invoice in its original currency. 
    • If the currency on your report differs from the original invoice currency, the spend will be converted using the mean FX rate (foreign exchange rate) as per the invoice date (FX rates are updated daily in Brightflag through the European Central Bank).

  5. Click Run Report

  6. Click on the Filters dropdown on the lefthand side to select any relevant filters. You can add multiple filters per report and choose which values are included in the report. Please find the example below:mceclip8.png
    • The filter is currently set to Matter Category, which was chosen from the filter dropdown
    • If all values are on the lefthand side and none are on the righthand side, the report will show all values as if there is no filter
    • If any values are on the righthand side, the report will only show results for those values (i.g. Aircraft Leasing and Financing is the only Matter Category on the righthand side so the report will only show Aircraft Leasing and Financing matters)
    • The mceclip4.png button adds all values from the lefthand side to the righthand side
    • The mceclip5.png button adds only the single selected value from the lefthand side to the righthand side
    • The mceclip6.png button removes only the single selected value from the righthand side to the lefthand side
    • The mceclip7.png button removes all values from the righthand side to the lefthand side

  7. Click on Choose Columns to view all fields and remove any unrequired fields.
    • Here is where you can choose which columns are included in the report (i.e. Department, Total Spend, Allocations, Internal Matter Lead Name, etc.)

  8. You are now ready to export your report. Click Export to Excel to download a static copy of the report.

  9. Finally, you can save your report by clicking on Save Report in the top right corner. This saves the report parameters and filters, but it does not save a static copy of the data.

To load your saved reports at a later date, simply enter the report builder and click on Load Report in the top right corner.
