Adding Vendors, Vendor Offices & Vendor Users to a Matter

You can add vendors, vendor offices, and individual vendor users to a matter, provided you can view it.

Two factors control access to matters for vendor users:

  1. How you assign vendors and users to the matter
  2. The access level of individual vendor users

Steps to Assign a Vendor & Vendor Users to a Matter

  1. Locate and open the matter (Menu > Matter Management > Search/Add Matters): Finding a Matter. If the matter doesn't exist yet, it must be created: Creating a Matter
  2. Navigate to the Vendors tab

    • Click Edit Vendor on the right side of your screen.
    • 📝 Note: You can have more than one vendor on a matter. Vendors will only see their information.
  3. Select the Vendor

    • Choose the vendor from the dropdown list.
    • If a vendor is not on the list, they will need to be added to your company.
  4. Select the Firm Office

    • Choose the firm office from the dropdown list.
    • If a firm office is not on the list, it will need to be added to your company.
  5. Select Firm Users

    • Pick the firm users from the dropdown list.

    • If you choose Any Firm Office, then the Only Admins option will be selected by default.

    • ⚠️ Note: Vendor admins can assign their office’s vendor ordinary users within the Brightflag Law Firm Portal.

    • If you select specific offices, you can also choose specific users. Selecting individual vendor users is only necessary if their access level is ordinary.

  6. Add Additional Vendors (if needed)

    • If you require more than one vendor on the matter, repeat the steps above until all vendors are added.

Callouts and Additional Notes

  • 💡 Tip: If you experience any difficulties adding vendors or firm offices, consider reviewing the Vendor Management Guide for additional help.
  • ⚠️ Warning: Ensure vendor permissions are properly set to avoid access issues for individual vendor users.
