📁 Adding Files to a Matter

🖥️ From the Brightflag Platform

  1. Go to the Matter Overview Page.

  2. Click the Emails & Files tab.

  3. Drag & drop files or click Browse to select files from your computer.

Supported file formats include:
PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, TXT, JPEG, JPG, PNG, TIF, TIFF, XML, MSG, EML.

📌 Tip: The maximum individual file size allowed is 20 MB.


⚠️ Troubleshooting Upload Issues

If you're having trouble uploading files, review the points below to resolve common issues:

✅ Supported File Types

Only the following file types are supported:
.doc, .docx, .pdf, .xls, .xlsx, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .txt, .xml, .msg, .ppt, .pptx, .eml, .tif, .tiff

✅ File Size Limits

  • Maximum individual file size: 20 MB

✅ File Name Restrictions

For security reasons, some characters are not allowed in filenames.
Permitted characters include:

  • Letters A-Z and a-z

  • Numbers 0-9

  • Spaces ' '

  • Hyphens -

  • Underscores _

  • Periods . (dots)

  • Parentheses ()

  • Ampersands &

  • Percentage symbols %

⚠️ Filenames with unsupported characters will trigger an error.

✅ File Name Length

  • Maximum filename length: 191 characters (based on the database attachment field limit)
