How to Use Ask Brightflag

This guide explains how to get started with Ask Brightflag, how to ask questions effectively, and how to navigate and interpret the results.


🚀 Getting Started with Ask Brightflag

1️⃣ Access Ask Brightflag Go to Menu > Ask Brightflag.
2️⃣ Enter Your Question Type your query in the chat box at the bottom of the page and press Enter or click Send.
3️⃣ Refine Your Query Specify date ranges or other details to get more precise results. Example: "Break down spend by vendor in 2024 based on the billing period."
4️⃣ Use Prompt Cards Select a pre-set prompt card to start your query quickly.
5️⃣ Respond to Follow-Ups If Brightflag AI needs more details, simply type your response in the chat box.  
6️⃣ Start a New Conversation Click New Conversation (top-right corner) to ask a fresh question.
7️⃣ Revisit Past Conversations Select previous chats from the history bar (top-left corner).

💡 What Types of Questions Can I Ask?

You can ask a wide range of questions related to:

  • Invoices

  • Matters

Results may appear at the invoice, matter, or aggregated levels (e.g., spend by department).


📊 Key Data Points Available

  • Spend Data – Total spend, expenses, etc., in your organization's currency

  • Matter-Level Details – Matter name, entity, department (only includes matters with invoice spend)

  • Invoice-Level Details – Invoice number, status, AP route

  • Important Dates – Start dates, invoice submission dates, billing periods

  • Purchase Orders – Linked POs at matter/invoice level

  • Line Items – Timekeeper names, descriptions, and rates


Access & Availability

The following roles can use Ask Brightflag:

  • Admin

  • Overview
