Automatically request matter updates (weekly, monthly, quarterly)
Collect updates from Internal & Vendor Matter Leads

How Matter Updates Works (3 Steps)
Step 1 — Admin Sets the Schedule
Admins configure automated email requests under:
Admin Settings → Matter Update Schedules
Admins can:
Create, edit, enable, or delete schedules
Apply rules by:
Matter Category
Department
Choose frequency:
Weekly (Mon–Fri)
Monthly (up to 30 weekdays after month-end)
Quarterly (up to 30 weekdays after quarter-end)
Send requests to:
Internal Matter Leads
Vendor Matter Leads
Step 2 — Matter Leads Receive Email
Recipients:
Receive one email per customer
Click “Update Matters”
Submit updates via secure link
Can update multiple matters on one page
Can forward email to delegate
📝 Maximum length: 8,500 characters per update
No Brightflag login is required for vendors using the secure link.
Step 3 — Updates Appear in Brightflag
Updates are stored in two places:
📌 Summary Tab
Menu > Home
Shows latest internal update
Shows latest vendor update
Allows internal users to post updates
📌 Matter Updates Tab on a Matter
Shows full historical update log
Allows Excel export
Allows one ad hoc reminder (every 24 hours)
Includes “Ignore Matter Updates Schedules” toggle
What Each Role Can Do
🔹 Admin (Customer)
Can:
Create & manage update schedules
Send ad hoc requests
Assign Vendor Matter Leads
Exclude matters from schedules
Report via All Matters Report
Available report fields:

🔹 Internal Matter Lead
Can:
Submit updates via email link
Submit updates inside Brightflag
View latest internal & vendor updates
Export update history

🔹 Matter Participant (Customer)
Can:
Post internal updates
View internal & vendor updates
Export update history
Report on updates
🔹 Vendor Matter Lead
Can:
Submit updates via secure email link
Submit updates via Brightflag portal (if access granted)
Delegate update submission
Does not need portal access to submit updates.
Vendor Admin users:
Can view vendor updates
Cannot view customer internal updates
