Firm Matter Reference

The Firm Matter Reference is a field used only by law firms.

It allows vendors to enter their own internal reference number for a matter in Brightflag.

Important

• The Firm Matter Reference is only editable by vendor users.

• Internal (client) users cannot edit this field after a matter has been created. 

• If multiple vendors are assigned to a matter, each vendor sees and manages their own separate reference number.

How to Enable the Firm Matter Reference Field

If the field is not visible to vendors:

1. Go to Menu > Admin Settings > Matter Settings 

2. Locate the Firm Matter Reference field on both the Matter Form & Matter Request Tabs

3. Enable the relevant settings 

4. Save your changes

Once enabled, vendors can add or update their reference directly in the Law Firm Portal.
