How Matter Creation Works in Brightflag (Start Here)

Matter creation in Brightflag depends on your organization’s configuration.
Not all users will see the same options or navigation paths.


1️⃣ Internal Users Create Matters Directly (No Approval)

Internal users create matters in:

Menu > Matter Management > Search/Add Matters

You will see an Add Matter button.

  • Matters become active immediately

  • No approval step required

  • Matters can be created:

    • Individually (Single Matter)

    • In Bulk (Spreadsheet Upload)


2️⃣ Internal Users Submit Matter Requests (Internal Approval Required)

Internal users must submit a Matter Request for approval before a matter is created.

Requests are located in:

Menu > Matter Management > Search Matter Requests

You will NOT see an “Add Matter” button in this setup.

  • A designated approver must review the request

  • The matter is created only after approval


3️⃣ Vendors Create Matters Directly

Vendors create matters in Brightflag without approval.

  • Matters become active immediately

  • Client users can edit details after creation (based on permissions)


4️⃣ Vendors Submit Matter Requests (Client Approval Required)

Vendors submit a Matter Request for client approval.

Requests appear in:

Menu > Matter Management > Search Matter Requests

  • A client user must approve or reject

  • Once approved, the matter is created automatically

  • If rejected, a new request must be submitted
