Creating a Matter

Overview
A matter can be created by either you or your vendor, depending on your organization's configuration. Before creating a matter, always check to ensure it does not already exist. Refer to the Finding a Matter guide for more details on searching for existing matters.


Steps to Create a Matter

  1. Navigate to the Matter Management Section
    Go to Menu > Matter Management > Search/Add Matters.

  2. Click the "Add Matter" Button
    On the right side of your screen, click the Add Matter button.

  3. Fill in Matter Details

    • Enter values for all matter fields.
    • Required fields are highlighted in pink.
      • For non-required fields, you can leave them blank and update them later.
    • If a value you need is not available in a dropdown, contact your company's Brightflag administrator for assistance.

  4. Assign a Vendor
    Assigning a vendor will grant all vendor admin users access to the matter.

  5. Assign Specific Vendor Users (Optional)

    • To allow vendor ordinary users to access the matter, assign specific users using the Assignee 1 dropdown.
  6. Finalize Matter Creation
    Once all fields are populated, click Create New Matter.

    • A notification will be sent to all vendor assignees selected in Step 5, informing them of the newly created matter.

Managing Matter Details

  • You can modify matter details at any time by accessing the Matter Overview page.
  • In some cases, vendors may also have access to update matter details, depending on your configuration.

To create a matter:

  1. Navigate to Menu > Matter Management > Search/Add Matters.mceclip0.png

  2. Click the Add Matter button on the right side of your screen.mceclip1.png

  3. Begin entering values for all matter fields. Required fields are in pink.mceclip2.png
    - If you do not know the information for a non-required field, this can always be entered after the point of matter creation.
    - If a value you are looking for is not present in the dropdown options, please contact your company's Brightflag administrator.

  4. Assign a Vendor. This will allow all vendor admin users in that vendor to access the matter.

  5. If you would like vendor ordinary users to access the matter, you can assign specific users using the Assignee 1 dropdown.

  6. When all fields are populated, click Create New Matter to finalize the creation. This will send a notification to all vendor assignees you selected in step 5, stating that the matter has been created.

Matter details can be changed at any point by accessing the matter overview page of that matter. In some cases, your vendor will have access to change matter details.
