The matters you can access in Brightflag depend on your user permissions. If you cannot find a matter, it may be due to your access level, incorrect search criteria, or the matter not being created in Brightflag.
How to Search for a Matter in Brightflag
Step | Action |
---|---|
1. Navigate to Matter Search | Menu > Matter Management > Search/Add Matters |
2. Run a General Search | Click Search with no filters selected to display all matters you have access to. |
3. Adjust the Status Filter | By default, the Status filter is set to Open only. Change it to All if needed. |
4. Apply Additional Filters | Use filters such as Vendor, Practice Area, Matter Type, or Date Range to refine your search. |
5. Search by Matter Name or Reference | Enter a Matter Name or Matter Reference in the Search Bar. |
6. Click Search | After entering filters or search terms, click Search to update the displayed results. |
7. Select the Matter | Once you find the matter, click on the Matter Name to open the summary page. |
📌 Note: If the above steps do not return results, it may mean:
- The matter does not exist in Brightflag (open or closed)
- The matter filters are incorrect or the matter information has changed
- Your user access does not include the matter
Troubleshooting: What to Do If You Can’t Find a Matter
🔎 If you can’t locate a matter, try the following:
✅ Double-check your Matter Reference format
✅ Ensure the Status Filter is set to All (not just Open)
✅ Contact your company’s Brightflag System Administrator to confirm if you have access
✅ If the matter is missing, it may need to be created. Refer to: Creating a Matter
